"Maybe I'll take part in the next one." Fanuco says grinning. "I could use the practice."

Willow shook her head and placed a hand on each of his arms. She breathed a word and a soft blue light spread from her fingers and over his wounds, healing them. She went to Gabriel, repeating the process. She took her seat at the fire again, taking a drink of water.

Willow poured some water into her hand to clean the dirt from her face. She tossed another log on the fire saying, "I'll take first watch." She pulled her knees up to her chin.

"You can take my spot next time, Fan." Salem told Fanuco, looking up from his arms to spot the samurai. A soft light pulled his attention from him though. He watched quietly as his arms were healed by Willow."Counting today I guess that makes five spells." Salem said as he clenched his hands slowly, flexing his forearms to see the extent in which they had been healed. He tried offering her a smile, but the mood was rather somber. He sighed, getting up from his spot by the fire and finding his hammock. "Yeah, sure." he said, easing himself into the netting. "I'll take second."

Willow gazed into the fire, stroking the embers into a frenzy. The night was uneventful, and she was grateful, but it allowed her mind to wander to places untouched for decades. A name floated from the depths of her mind: Jared Harrison Moore. He had been a valiant and courageous soldier, a true warrior. She had fallen quickly to his charm, and soon Willow trusted him far more than was wise. They had set out on a quest much like this one, Jared offering friendship just as Salem had the day previous. She glanced now at his sleeping form, her eyes also falling to Gabriel, anxiety rising inside her. It was there Jared had shown his true colors, beheading their friend Timothy despite his pleas for mercy. It was then she learned of his true past as a witch hunter, and the very one who had slaughtered her Coven during her initiation. Willow shuddered from the thought, pulling her blanket around her. He had attacked her with ancient power and she had felt the embrace of Death in honest that night. He had taken her soul, and her Lord had given her temporary life, for her work was not done. Willow looked up to the sky. It was the real reason she searched for the dragon. Jared had fled to another plane, and if she did not catch him and retrieve her soul before the year's end, whether her duties were fulfilled or not, she would feel Death's embrace once more... Sighing the witch stood to her feet and tiptoed to Salem's hammock, nudging his shoulder. "Salem... Salem, wake up. It's your watch if you still want it." She nudged him gently again.

Salem had gone three days without a decent night of sleep. Coupled with how eventful the last few days had been he found it easy to drift into slumber. No dreams visited him that night. Simply a blissful darkness. That was until he felt something begin to shake him. He rolled over in his sleep, trying to ignore whatever it was. He didn't rouse until the second time his name was called. "Yeah," he answered absentmindedly, hauling himself from his bunk. "My watch," he repeated before letting out a long yawn.

For the first time, the sight of his teeth worried Willow. "If you're still tired, I can keep going..." She felt the warmth of the fire on her back. "Want to keep sleeping?"

Salem groggily rubbed his eyes. "No, I said I'd take the second shift. Besides, if I recall right you were up drinking all last night." he teased, taking up a spot next to the fire."I'll be alright. I'm pretty used to going on only a few hours of sleep." He tapped his index finger against his head. "My friend doesn't like it when I sleep." Salem often had dreams of his past misdeeds in graphic detail.

Willow nodded in understanding. "Well, I'm not that tired yet..." She took up her seat next to the fire again. "Has your friend given you trouble since the ritual? Are you feeling alright?" She asked, looking at him from the corner of her eye.

"I've got more faith in my nose than my ears." Salem answered, lowering his finger from his temple. He leaned forward, edging closer to the fire at the mention of the spirit possessing him. "My friend is always giving me trouble. It's simply the way our relationship works." Salem stared into the fire, thinking back upon the dreams he had all those years ago. "But if you mean more than usual... Just a bit. It was back when Gabriel attacked me. When the fight between us broke out. I could feel something nagging at me. Telling me to... Well, you should have a pretty good idea of what it was telling me to do." Salem flashed a sheepish smile, his teeth glinting in the light. "If it weren't for your spell keeping my hunger at bay I probably would have acted on it."
Salem looked towards the man asleep in his hammock and let out a small laugh. "He's awfully protective of you. Didn't even stop to ask questions. I suppose that our little group is made up of the kill first, ask questions later sort of folk."

Willow was silent for a moment, her usual night-time carefree attitude lost on recent events. She gave a humorless laugh as she added wood to the fire. "Hopefully all we'll kill is the dragon." The buzz of insects and owls was the music of the forest, playing softly in the background, accented by the crackling of their campfire. It had been so long since Willow had been around others, she was still adjusting to being social and hoping she wasn't making a complete ass of herself. That's just what she needed, really. She sighed, passing a hand over the flames, letting part of the fire detach and dance along her arm. Mixed images of Jared danced in her mind's eye, with as much mixed emotions. "And you... you seemed rather out of sorts when you found me. Were you really just worried about not being able to repay some debt?"

"I'm not one of them." Fanuco says grinning his close eyes hiding his madness. "I don't brother to ask questions."
