Salem let out a soft moan as he awoke from his slumber. His head was pounding and the floor beneath his feet seemed to roll. His eyes fluttered open slowly, only to be greeted by darkness. The heat about his face told him that something was covering his head. He tried to reach up to remove it, only to find his arms securely fastened. He struggled against the restraints, his only reward was a soft creaking sound and a sharp pain along his arms. "The hell?" he asked, trying once more. Salem was baffled. In all his life he had never found anything capable of holding him. He was the strongest man he knew, capable of lifting small mountains when forced to. Here he was being held captive by what felt like wood.
He sighed, letting his head drop. He tried to recall how he had made it here. He sat in silence, only the shifting of the floor and the sound of creaking keeping him company. Creaking... Salem lifted his head as he suddenly recalled his predicament. He was on a ship. He had booked a passage on a ship, looking to cross the ocean and make his way to a small island. He'd been carrying a map with him. Something he had ran across decades ago. He couldn't recall where it led to. He only felt a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach when he thought of it. He remembered being attacked by pirates. There was a fight on the deck. He recalled struggling with a few of the attackers and then seeing the mast of the ship fall, then nothing.
Had he been with someone? Did anyone know where he was? How was that he was trapped? He grumbled a curse below his breath before looking around, again, greeted by darkness. "Hello?" he called out. "Anyone else around?"

Startled Calypso gasped, shrinking back. Gingerly she reached out to his leg, letting him know he wasn't alone. Iron bands chained her to the wall by both her ankles and hands. "You were asleep for a long time," she whispered, her voice dry and raspy.

Salem was half startled to feel something touch his leg. He hadn't expected anyone to be with him. "How long?" he found himself asking. From the sound of the voice it was a woman beside him, and she didn't sound to be in the best of shape. "And who are you?"

Calypso coughed, the fit wracking her body savagely. "Friends call me Charm. And a couple days... Not entirely sure. Is it day or night?"

"Charm," he said, trying out the name. "How long have you been here? Where you on the ship?" He was going to ask her more questions before she entered her coughing fit. He winced, figuring that she had not been treated well. He tuned out the sounds the immediate area. The creaking, the coughing, the waves, and focused outwards. "Day, there's a lot of activity out there. A lot of men are moving about and only a few of them are asleep. At least, that's what I can hear."

Charm squirmed uncomfortably, her chains rattling in her panic. "...no... Oh no..." No more than seconds after thei exchange was the door thrown open, the sound of two men stomping towards the woman. Charm screamed and kicked as they lifted her up like a sack of flour. There was a resounding smack, and she went quiet for a moment, a whimpering escaping her lips. "You knew the consequences." One of the men barked, as his partner held her against the wall, her feet off the floor. Charm was breathing heavily as he produced a rusty knife from his belt, it was stained with blood. Again she struggled, and Salem could smell the fresh blood mixing with old from the bandage. "No! It won't happen again! I swear! I swear!" Her voice cracked into sobs as the second slammed her head back. "No! Please!" And without a word, the first man scooped the blade behind her eye, popping it out with a sickening wet noise. They let her fall to the floor in a heap before wrapping a new bandage over both her eyes. Charm laid at Salem's feet, not moving, her breathing even more ragged now.

Salem was barley able to make out the figures from behind the black cloth. He heard it more than anything. The scent of blood, the sound of an eyeball being ripped from it's socket. It was a sound he was familiar with. Salem let out a bestial growl that shook his chest. "The hell was that for!" he cried out, straining against his restraints once more. Whatever was binding his wrist cut into them, the wood that held it together creaked much like the ship, but that was all. It only added to the fury that he felt.

The men left, and some time later Charm stirred. She moaned softly with pain, a hand appeared underneath the cloth seperating them, bloody and bruised. A few nails were missing. She was no longer chained, but unable to run. "Who are you?" In her delirium, Charm only remembered a man's voice, and gently rocking of the boat on the sea.

Jack stirred from his slumber in the next cell over. He looked up from the floor and watched as the men left the girl lying on the ground. "Hey, are two okay over there?" he asked as he tried to free himself from the bindings holding him. "What the hell just happened?"

Charm rolled her head towards the new voice. "Hello?" She called out timidly, pulling herself into a ball. "Oh this is bad..." She sniffed, sucking in blood. "Did I put you two down here? Were you in the mutiny?"

Jack sighed in relief when he heard someone reply to him. "Thank god, where are we going?" he asked as he observed his surroundings. "Hey what's wrong, what is bad and what mutiny?" Jack grabbed on to the cell bars as he tried to get a better look at the two in the other cell.

Charm moaned as a fresh wave of pain ravaged her body, she shook violently, which didn't help matters. She twitched, her back arching. She screamed, clawing at her bandages. She clawed at her arms, faces, legs, all over, thrashing around in her cell. "I'm on fire!" She fell back to the floor, her throat hoarse. "Help me... Please. I'm so sorry..."

Jack was frozen in place as he witnessed the girl in front if him start to attack herself. He snapped out of his stupor as soon as he recognized the face of Rotieart and felt a sense of relief begin to grow within him. "yeah I'll get him," Jack said as he began to freeze the bars of his cell, "Sorry I couldn't help earlier my powers were not working." He then walked over to the next cell and began trying to free the strange man. "Hey buddy it is about to get a little cold. Just tell me if it begins to be to much, kay?" He asked as he tried to freeze the cuffs

Charm shuddered from the sudden cold, hugging what little clothes were left to her body. She repeated over and over that he killed the captain, hysteria sinking in. Her blindness made her forget the others were there, and she rocked back and forth in her pain. "This is bad... This is really bad... I can't see. They took my eyes. My eyes." Hollow laughter escaped her cracked lips. "They'll kill me today surely. I'm not lucky. Calypso will die... Dead." Charm rest her head against the wood, shivering slightly from the cold, but on the inside she was burning alive. "Make me cold. I'm on fire. Make me cold." She reached out feebly towards the sound of Jack's voice. A man cleared his throat a few yards away. "It's the infection in her eyes. She's goin' mad from the infection." He rattled his restraints. "Let me loose. I'm a doctor."

A lot had happened in a short space of time, and with being able to see or move Salem was forced to be little more than a blind observer. He heard and smelled the arrival of a new party. He also felt as a small explosion rippled through there cells. "Depends whose asking." Salem answered. The other man ran over to him and mentioned the cold. Salem would have laughed ifbit wasn't for his current predicament. The feeling of ice was soothing against his wrist and he shattered his bonds with ease.
He roughly tore of his hood and examined the men and woman before him. "Easy now," Salem said, attempting to soothe the frantic Charm. He took her hand, frost still coating it. "One of you go free the doc." he said to the others. "Who is she? Why did those men do this to her?"
