Charm blew hair out of her face as she began to think back on the few occasions she had held an actual conversation with her father. "So we go back and get the rest if the map," she shrugged as of it were a simple matter.
Doctor J shook his head, objecting immediately. "Now hold on, lass! We just barely escaped with our lives! And Gallows is probably half way to the Atlantic by now. You'll have no power over him there." The man shook his head again, bringing his hand down on the seat next to him. "And I'll be damned if I betray your father twice my letting you get yourself killed."
Charm stood, her eyes filled with rage. "My father!" She spat the word like poison. "My father only cared about gold and fame! And as far as I'm concerned, Salem should get the treasure. And I owe them my life." She stooped so that she was in the doctor's face. "And I only owe you getting my eyes cut out of my head!"
"It was the only way to keep ya alive!" He shouted back, getting to his feet. "And now ya want to go and die anyway!"
Charm crossed her arms. "I'm going to live with some honor, doctor."
The man grabbed the woman's shoulders. "Now you listen here!" His voice was strained as his expression. "You're talkin' bout suicide for no reason. Lets stay here and make plans for a new life, lass. That's what he wanted for you...."
Laughing at him, the woman shoved his hands away. "You're my friend, Doctor J, but don't think me a fool." She pointed to Salem and Jack. "Once I've replayed them, then perhaps I'll live a different life. But why else is there for a sea goddess but the sea?" They stared at each other, neither giving looking away or giving ground.
Finally the doctor sat down, his old face weary. "Fine, Calypso. Go. Get the map and have yer adventure."
