Salem laughed, gloating at his small victory against the piggish captain. "Ha!" he called out from the boat, raising his half of the map towards the sky. "Good luck finding my treasure!" He would have probably continued his childish antics if it weren't for the Doc calling his attention back towards their current predicament. They were technically stranded at sea, with a large man o' war staring them down, and a young'un bleeding out in there vessel. Salem reigned in his avarice and nodded. "Right," he responded, grabbing the oar as it was tossed to him and setting it in the water. He matched the doctor's strokes as they began making headway. It took the crew of the Raleigh sometime to coordinate under there new captain, giving the quartet a much needed head start. "I hope Gallows doesn't know about this island of your's, Doc."

Doctor J laughed as a smoke began to crawl up from the sea, and soon the ship was blocked from view. "Nay, lad." He looked over his shoulder at Charm. "And even if he did, he wouldn't make it there." He grunted with the effort, but kept going. "Ya only got half the map, eh?"

Salem nodded as he continued to row. His head still ached from having a mast fall on it several days ago and his powers still seemed repressed by whatever magic was surrounding Gallows. It was restructuring to him, but not fast enough for his liking. He could feel his muscles beginning to burn with effort as he rowed. "Better than none of the map. I doubt that he's had time to copy it, let alone memorize it." Salem hadn't even memorized the map and he'd been in possession of it for over a decade. "So that puts us on somewhat even footing." He turned and looked towards Charm whose bloodied arm was resting in the ocean. "What's the deal with that? I've never heard of a medical procedure where you put a bleeding appendage in shark infested waters."

Doctor J smirked. "We'll explain on land, lad. But since you helped us out, that there is Calypso."

Salem had enough experience with the mystical arts to recognize the name. "Calypso, from mythology?" he asked, the disbelief in his voice ringing clear. Salem, despite meeting all sorts of creatures of legend, had trouble believing in mythological deities. The notion of there being a Zeus, or Odin, or Ra made him feel incredible small and feeble. He had seen too much in the world to rule out to possibility though. He started to ask questions, but stopped. They had more pressing matters, like getting out of range of the Raleighs long guns. "It better be a long explaination." he muttered.

Doctor J nodded, "Aye, lad." They towed for quite some time until the water turned shallow and Salem and Jack walked the dingy into the beach. "I can't lift her, lad. Take her to the water, the sea will take care o' rest." The doctor satin the boat, wrapping his knees where Gallows had cut him.

Jack sat on the beach after the boat ride to the shore. He looked out towards the ocean trying to fully understand what he got himself into. "Hey doc, where are we exactly? I mean where was the boat heading before shit hit the fan?" He asked as he looked around at the people he found himself with.

Doctor J cursed as he tended to his wounds. "Gallows was after the rest of the map. Wasting time till he decided on what to do with charm." He looked back at her. "One of you lads please take her to the sea. It'll help. I'd do it, but can't walk just yet."

Jack stood up and walked over and pickled her up. "If your sure doc, I'll do it," he said as he walked into the water and sat her in it. He stood in the water holding her head above the the water not sure what was going to happen.

At first the sea washed up her body, cleaning and closing her wounds gently and slowly. Then it reached the deep gashes in her abdomen and back, not to mention her missing eyes. Without warning, the grabbed her from Jack's arms and pulled her under. Charm had gained consciencenes by this point and started flailing under the waves, yet she couldn't lift her head above water. When Jack tried to get her, his hands seemed to slip right through Charm, unable to hold her. Soon Charm was lost in a cloud of blood with Jack splashing around trying to help her. Suddenly a wave broke, knocking Jack off his feet, and it carried him to shore. Beside him lay Charm, her wounds healed and her skin unscarred. Laughing with relief Doctor J threw his jacket over the girl, the sea having rid her of clothes during the healing process. "You're alive!" Grinning from ear to ear Charm got to her knees, butting the jacket like a short dress. "Doctor J! You're alive!" Laughing herself into tears she wrapped her arms around her friend's neck. "But how?" The man pointed to Salem and Jack. "We found a few unlikely friends, Charm. That's Salem, he's a good fighter from what I saw. Had the map from the last ship. And that's Jack, he does an ice trick or something, didnt stick around to see it." Jack had held out his hand for his introduction, but Charm tackled him in a hug, kissing both his cheeks. "I owe you my life!" Before Salem could protest, she hugged him as well. "And the same to you, though I owe you more," she added solemnly, looking at his face. The sea had replaced her eyes, they were a deep aquamarine, and full of sadness at the moment. "Salem, I won't waste time with apologies for what happened, but you have my word, that I will give my last breath in repaying you for your lost crew." She held his shoulder as she continued, looking at Jack too. "I owe both of you my life, a debt I will never forget." She sat on the edge of the boat and looked up, feeling the sun on her face. Charm laughed then, having fully expected to die, she laughed until she fell backwards into the boat, hitting her head on the anchor. "Oh shit!" She came back into view rubbing the back of her head. "Well if Doctor J has told you anything, I'm sure you have questions. Go ahead and ask. I'll tell you whatever you want to know!" She pulled them into the boat as I they had been life-long friends.

When Charm's body was ripped out his hands, Jack began to freak out and began searching the waters frantically for her. Next thing Jack knew, he was laying on the beach staring up at the clear blue sky. Realizing what just happened he quickly jumped in time to see the doc hugging Charm. He watched with a huge grin as the doc and Charm had their lovely reunion. He waved towards the two as the doc introduced Salem and him. He was about to introduce himself when he was hugged and kissed by the girl. Frozen in shock he stared at the ocean as she went over and hugged Salem too. Breaking free from his stupor jack listened as Charm thanked the two of them. "You don't owe me anything Ms. Charm," Jack said as he rubbed the back of his head. "As long as you and the doc are safe and happy, then consider the debt paid for me. But I do have a question for all three of you. Why did you have that map Salem and why were the two of you looking for it?" Jack sat on the ground and stared at his three new companions as he created an ice dagger and began twirling it around his fingers. "I mean it seems that everyone wants this map and yet the person who owns it doesn't even know where he got it from. It is all just so confusing to me."

"Please, just Charm. No 'ma'am' nonsense!" She laughed easily, nudging Jack. "As for the map..." Her expression turned grim. "My father wanted it. He had grown too greedy over the past year, and paranoid." She sighed heavily with her eyes closed, still drinking in the simple fact that she was alive. "One of his last acts as Captain was to attack the ship Salem was on and steal the map. We... Only won because of me." She shook her head regretfully. "He made most of his fortune making deals and bribes with my life and soul... Literally." She spat on the sand. "One of deals made me insanely lucky so that luck was always in my favor." Charm dislodged some shells from her hair. "Gallows, though..." Her tone turned bitter and resentful. "He made a deal with a sea witch to never be beaten while at sea or ocean. Water is his territory for victory." She spat again. Doctor J scratched his beard. "Now, Lass, we've got a fresh start on things. We can go back to the mainlan' and rustle up our own crew." Charm shook her head before looking at Salem. "And you don't know what the map leads to? No idea what treasure or riches my father was after?"

Salem attempted to refuse the hug, but the rejuvenated Charm had moved to fast. Before he could try and push her away her tiny arms where wrapped tightly around his large frame. He sighed at the display of affection and lightly patter her back before she released him. Now that she was so close he could see the extent at which the sea had healed her. He allowed his eyes to meet her's as she spoke, promising to repay him for the trouble that she had undoubtedly caused. He let out a deep sigh. He wasn't as gracious as Jack, being content with their happiness and well being. "I just want my map back." he replied, shoving his hands into the his pockets. Greed and annoyance with how much trouble it had brought him had become his only drive to find the map. He didn't care for the treasure at it's end or the excitment of being able to play the part of the rougish adventurer. He looked towards the tree line, extracting himself from the conversation.
"I know where I got the map." Salem responded gruffly. He scowled at the red haired youth as he turned to face him. "I found it a couple decades ago while I was employed by some old sailor. He had me hunt down the map for him, when I finally found it he was dead. So I kept it. I figured I'd gone through more to get it than anyone else had so by right it was mine." He left out a couple of minor details, including his employers name, and what he had done to get the map. "And no, I don't know. After I decided to keep the map I locked in a safety deposit box. It wasn't until I came to clean it out that I found the map again and decided to see what all the fuss was about. To be perfectly honest I've hardly looked at the damn thing."
